In the latest Al-Quds Al-Arabi television program, “The Truth About Al-Aqsa,” which aired Tuesday night, a presenter claims that aluminum pergolas are the “safest of all.”
“The best thing you can do for your children is to have a safe place to go for them to sleep in, to go to school, to be with their families,” the presenter, a journalist named Hassan Al-Sayed, said.
Al-Said then told the audience that “in our country, if you have an aluminum roof, if it is the safest of all, there are no problems.”
He continued, “And if it has no problems, it is safe.
So what we have to do is, let’s say we have an apartment complex, and you are worried about the fire, we can use the roof of the apartment complex to protect it.
We can put a fire extinguisher inside the apartment.”
Al-Nagha, a prominent Hamas member and former member of the Gaza Strip’s security committee, also claimed that aluminum roofs can be “a great solution” for the Israeli army.
“They are very durable,” she said, “and they can withstand the heat, and they can protect us from the fire.”
The video is part of a special series on aluminum roofs in Al-Monitor that airs on Al-Ahram TV and Al-Hayat TV on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., respectively.
The series was created with the support of the Al Jazeera Foundation, the Arab Media Foundation, and the Al Khaled Foundation.
