Apple has confirmed that it has introduced the first aluminum alloy deck railing to replace the aluminum plate on the sides of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus smartphones.
The aluminum deck is designed to prevent damage to the iPhone display and is made of an alloy that has an extremely high corrosion resistance, which means it can be easily repaired and replaced.
Apple did not disclose how many aluminum alloy iPhones it has shipped to date, but according to a post on the company’s website, it is now shipping approximately 3 million aluminum alloy phones to customers worldwide.
According to the company, the aluminum alloy is made by a company called Molycorp, which makes aluminum alloying products for military, industrial and automotive companies.
The company is not currently selling the aluminum deck, but it is making a prototype in order to get a feel for how the new product might perform.
The post also confirms that the aluminum aluminum deck will be available in a black finish, as well as the blue color that was seen on the iPhone 5s and the silver finish that was used on the Apple Watch Series 3.
Apple also announced that it will soon start selling the Aluminum Alloy Dock, which will feature a glass cover for the iPhone dock that will act as an outlet for batteries and power supplies.
The new aluminum alloy dock will also be available as a standalone accessory, but is expected to be priced higher than the Apple Dock.
The iPhone 6, 6 Plus and 6S will ship with aluminum alloy and the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will have aluminum alloy.
